This website is intended to provide information for my patients about me, what I specialize in, and where my practice is located. I am an orthopaedic trauma surgeon in Manchester, New Hampshire. I provide the full spectrum of orthopaedic surgical care to my patients, but I primarily specialize in adult and pediatric trauma and fracture surgery. My practice also includes a sub-specialty interest in total shoulder replacements including reverse shoulder arthroplasty. I practice and take trauma call at the Elliot Hospital, which is an ACS level 2 trauma center in Manchester. I accept patients from all over New England and beyond for treatment of fractures and trauma-related injuries. Please contact the office to make an appointment or to have your questions addressed.
For information on common injuries and conditions please see OrthoInfo.AAOS.org for excellent patient education material. The information at Orthoinfo is unbiased and generally accurate.
I have been practicing orthopaedics since 2004 after graduating from the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program where I was the administrative chief resident at MGH in my senior year. I did a fellowship at Harvard in arthroscopy and sports medicine and shoulder arthroplasty. I practiced in Portland, Maine for 6 years before moving to Manchester, NH to focus on trauma and fracture surgery. I have consistently been the busiest orthopaedic trauma surgeon in the State of NH performing on average 600 surgeries per year.
I make every effort to treat patients guided by the best possible evidence from modern orthopaedic research and using the best tools available. I study decision making and cognitive biases and I take numerous precautions to guard against the more problematic biases that influence decisions. In addition I take pride in being able to care for my patients as soon as possible after their injury (often the same day) minimizing wait times for definitive treatment.
I treat all aspects of orthopaedic trauma including pediatric, pelvic and acetabular, fracture non-union repair, and hand trauma. I treat a large volume of common injuries like broken wrists, shoulder fractures, hip fractures, hand injuries, tendon ruptures, and ankle fractures. Most of the patients I take care of come to me from emergency departments or urgent care centers. I also see patients who are referred to me from other physicians or practices. In addition, patients can call and request to be seen by me if they have had some sort of injury in the past. I see many patients who have been treated by other surgeons and want to be seen for another opinion or for me to take over their care.
I have additional training in total shoulder replacement surgery (arthroplasty) including having performed hundreds of reverse shoulder replacements since the procedure was first approved in the United States in 2004.
Although I have limited my practice over time to primarily adult and pediatric trauma I still see patients with a variety of general orthopaedic conditions. I have over 18 years of experience with general orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. Being a general orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest allows me to bring whatever technique is necessary for optimum patient care.
